A helical staircase curves through open space with no central column to interrupt the line — the entire structure is carried by curved outer (and sometimes inner) stringers, engineered to hold their shape under load without a supporting post. It's the more architecturally demanding cousin of the spiral staircase, better suited to grand stairwells and open atriums than tight utility spaces. We fabricate and restore helical staircases in steel, engineered and installed to UK Building Regulations Part K.
